Our co-educational College offers a wide-ranging Year 7-10 curriculum, as well as a comprehensive Victorian Certificate of Education for Years 11 and 12. At Lyndale Secondary College we value the ideals of an international education. Since its inception in 2007, students from South Africa, Cambodia, China, Vietnam, Chile, Sri Lanka and Thailand have graduated from our college and many have been selected for a wide variety of university courses. Our school community values the cultural heritage of other nations and is very interested in developing global networks of friendship, education and business. At Lyndale, your child will have a wide variety of subjects from which to choose. Many of our international students have achieved placements at Melbourne, Monash, Deakin and RMIT Universities and are well prepared for a wide variety of further education options.
At Lyndale, we recognise that leaving the familiarity of home can be a daunting experience for many young people. It’s with this in mind that we choose only the most caring and responsible for host families for our international students. All of our host families are carefully chosen from our local community, keeping your child close to our campus in a secure and nurturing environment. Your child will experience all the diversity of Australia’s multi-culture with the support and care from our friendly host families. Our Homestay families offer welcoming support within a stable and secure environment for all our international students making your child’s stay a positive and rewarding experience. At Lyndale, the care of your child in our Homestay program is our greatest priority.
Situated at Lyndale Secondary College, is the Lyndale English Language School which offers all of our international students a transition course. Students experience specialised, intensive English instruction for at least 20 weeks to give them the skills, tools and knowledge to then engage with mainstream education within the college. Subsequent to this, your child will undertake tuition in our English as an Additional Language Program which is run by our highly experienced EAL (English as an Additional Language) teachers. This program caters to students of all levels of secondary education, as well as all levels of proficiency with the English language.
Being so far away, we understand your need to be regularly informed on your child’s progress, so communication with the school is encouraged. Our International Student Coordinator makes personal contact with parents a top priority, providing immediate answers to your questions and delivering important information as required. You will also receive a regular newsletter as well as a written report each term, in your own language that outlines the progress of your child.
At Lyndale, your child will be encouraged to participate in a number of developmental workshops presented by experts in study skills, time management, motivation, as well as personal and career development. In addition, extensive support services in student welfare and careers counselling are readily available to all students at any time. Our Alumni Tuition Program is available to all international students after school at no extra cost. Through our University Enhancement Studies at Year 12, your child has the opportunity to incorporate Monash and Melbourne University Degree studies within their Year 11 and 12 Victorian Certificate of Education. All international students receive personalised counselling in regard to course selection and support in completing necessary documentation.
