Lyndale Secondary College is the first State School to invest in state-of-the-art smart classrooms, increasing student engagement, creativity, collaboration and critical thinking. We provide smart classrooms that use virtual reality (VR) , and augmented reality (AR) and software technologies to enable the best student learning outcomes.

On the 30th of August, myself (Liv Hutchins), Ruby Fitzgerald and Ayaan Maniar attended the Lumination’s Lab Melbourne office to get a taste of what VR/AR is going to look like at Lyndale Secondary College.

While there, we got to try out AR headsets, interactive cubes and VR experiences. All of which were super immersive and futuristic. Some of these experiences included exploring the Sistine Chapel, building a city and exploring various places around the world such as Spain.

It was certainly an exciting insight into how this new technology will help shape our learning and the curriculum at our school.

The VR/AR experiences allowed us to truly immerse ourselves in various educational programs. The Lumination Learning Labs invites students to be independent and creative thinkers, while being led through a program developed especially for our classes.

This style of learning can be applied for any classes, such as Science, Art and Humanities. At our school, there will be four stations set up where all  students will be able to utilise this new technology for their learning. We were extremely privileged to be not only the first Lyndale students, but first State School students, to have this opportunity and are excited for what the future of VR/AR learning holds at our college. Liv Hutchins Year 9
