Advanced Challenge and Enrichment (ACE) Program

What is the ACE Program?

Lyndale Secondary College’s Advanced Challenge and Enrichment program is designed for high-performing students who thrive on academic challenge and complexity. This program was previously known as the SEAL program and provides an enriched learning experience that emphasises critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent inquiry. The program encourages deeper exploration of concepts, higher-order thinking, and the development of strong analytical skills.

While students’ progress alongside their peers, they are expected to meet high academic standards and demonstrate a strong commitment to learning. Continued participation in the ACE program for Years 8 and 9 is based on academic performance and engagement, ensuring that students are consistently challenged at an appropriate level.

From Year 10 onwards, eligible students can access VCE/VET subjects, university extension programs, and other advanced electives.

Entry into the ACE program is selective, based on academic assessment, primary school performance, and demonstrated learning potential.

Lyndale Secondary College’s ACE program is a select entry enrichment program designed to meet the needs of talented and gifted students. The rigorous and challenging academic program provides students with an opportunity to work with like-minded peers in a supportive and encouraging environment.

While ACE does not follow a traditional accelerated model, it allows students to progress with their school-age peers while engaging in a challenging curriculum that enriches and extends their learning in all subject areas.

ACE Program Application Process

The 2026 Year 7 ACE class will be selected from our total enrolled Year 7 cohort only.

Once students have a confirmed enrolment at Lyndale Secondary College for 2026, we will ask for an expression of interest for those students that have an interest in the ACE program for Year 7. The ACE Expression of Interest form will be distributed to families in August (after enrolments are confirmed). Please note, only students who have been assessed as working ‘Above the expected level’ by their primary school teachers and/or on their Grade 5 NAPLAN report should nominate.

Students who submit the ACE Expression of Interest form and have demonstrated the appropriate personal and interpersonal skills, along with outstanding academic skills, will come for an assessment that will take place on Saturday 6th September from 9am until 12 noon.

Families will be informed of successful selection into the ACE program for 2026 by 10th October 2025.

For students enrolling in a year level other than Year 7, placement in the ACE program will be subject to availability and suitability.
